Program Scope

The Future-Ready Facilities Grant offers schools and school districts a chance to leverage the industry's most advanced energy, water, and indoor air quality monitoring systems — but we recognize that every school has unique needs. Below, choose which Attune solutions you would like to propose for use in your school or district. Each solution has unique installation requirements. Take these into account as you make your decision.

Installation Requirements

Energy Monitoring: The Attune Energy Monitoring Kit must be installed by a licensed electrician. If your school or district has an electrician on staff, this person would be an ideal installation partner. If not, the school or district will need to hire a local electrician to install this piece of equipment.

Water Monitoring: The Attune Water Monitoring Kit does not need to be installed by a licensed tradesperson. However, it should be installed by someone who has school or district approval to interact with utility meters. This person should also be familiar with local and school/district policies related to working with water meters.

Indoor Air Quality Monitoring: The Attune IAQ Monitor does not require any specialized skill to install. It can be mounted on the wall using provided adhesive strips or drywall screws and simply plugged into the nearest outlet. Many schools and districts enlist students to support the installation process (with adult supervision, of course) to spark their interest in air quality.

Future-Ready Facilities Team

There are a number of critical steps you will need to take to ensure a successful launch of your Future-Ready Facilities Initiative. While some will be best handled by you, others will be better served by other district/school staff members. For each step below, please include the name and title of the person who will own this task.

Finalize Equipment Needs
The first step on your Future-Ready Facilities journey is to ensure the Attune equipment you receive meets the needs of your school(s). To accomplish this task, an Attune expert will conduct a scoping exercise focused on the school or schools that will be receiving Attune equipment. The ideal owner for this task should be familiar with the floorplans, HVAC layouts, and utilities in the relevant schools.
Equipment Installation
Though this might be the most exciting part of the pre-launch activities, it's important that your new devices are installed by someone with experience handling these types of tasks. The Attune Team will provide all of the documentation and training needed for a successful installation. The ideal task owner will commit to getting all equipment installed on an agreed upon schedule.
The Attune Energy Monitoring Kit must be installed by a licensed electrician. If your school or district has an electrician on staff, this person would be an ideal task owner. If not, the school or district will need to hire a local electrician. If you did not include energy monitoring in your Program Scope responses, please respond with "N/A".
The Attune Water Monitoring Kit should be installed by someone who has school or district approval to interact with utility meters and is familiar with local and school/district policies related to water meters. This is typically someone in Facilities, Maintenance, or Operations. If you did not include water monitoring in your Program Scope responses, please respond with "N/A".
The Attune IAQ Monitor does not require any specialized skill to install. It can be mounted on the wall using provided adhesive strips or drywall screws and simply plugged into the nearest outlet. Many schools and districts enlist students to support the installation process. If you did not include IAQ monitoring in your Program Scope responses, please respond with "N/A".
Dashboard Creation
There's no limit to the number of graphs, reports, thresholds, and alerts you can set up, but you do have to start somewhere. The initial platform setup should ensure that all data being generated is readily accessible to all parties that will access it. The ideal owner for this task is the person who will interact with this data most often.
Platform Training
Once the initial platform setup is completed, it's time to officially invite all relevant stakeholders to join you on your school or district's Future-Ready Facilities journey. The Attune Team will conduct remote platform training sessions to ensure your team knows how to use the Attune platform in their roles. The task owner needs to coordinate with internal stakeholders and the Attune Team to schedule these training sessions.
Quarterly Progress Meetings
The most effective way to track progress, celebrate wins, and ensure continued engagement is to bring together the program's most important stakeholders on a regular basis to meet with the Attune Team. Coordinating schedules and ensuring the right people are in the room are critical to the success of these meetings. The ideal task owner will commit to getting these meetings scheduled and ensuring internal participants attend.

District/School Commitments

Storytelling
We want your school or district's Future-Ready Facilities journey to inspire other schools and districts to embark on their own, and that all starts with effective storytelling.

Leadership Support
Monitoring programs work best when there is alignment among all key stakeholders and leadership. Prior to final selection, shortlisted applicants will be required to submit a Letter of Support from their Superintendent and/or Chief Operating Officer. In this letter, the Superintendent/COO should demonstrate an understanding of this program and commit to endorsing its value and importance to his/her leadership team and school board members or trustees. The Superintendent/COO should also commit to ensuring all staff referenced in this application are available to participate in the program.
